The Song Rising is the third book in The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon. It was published on March 7, 2017 by Bloomsbury Publishing.

Synopsis[]

The hotly anticipated third book in the bestselling Bone Season series – a ground-breaking, dystopian fantasy of extraordinary imagination.

Following a bloody battle against foes on every side, Paige Mahoney has risen to the dangerous position of Underqueen, ruling over London's criminal population.

But, having turned her back on Jaxon Hall and with vengeful enemies still at large, the task of stabilising the fractured underworld has never seemed so challenging.

Little does Paige know that her reign may be cut short by the introduction of Senshield, a deadly technology that spells doom for the clairvoyant community and the world as they know it…[1]

Editions[]

  • The Bloomsbury Publishing Collector's Edition: signed, orange hardback, gilt illustration on the front cover, gilt letters and illustration to the spine.
    • From Samantha Shannon's blog: The royal purple background represents Paige's reign as Underqueen. The moth is a reference to Paige's alias in the scrimmage, the Black Moth, which is a symbol of human resistance against Scion and the Rephaim. The orange flower is nasturtium which means conquest or power in the language of flowers. The six dials emanating from the moth not only echoes the design of The Bone Season, but it also symbolizes the other six members of Paige's gang and how their lives are moving in different directions as their world expands.[2]
