Samantha Shannon is a British fiction writer and author of The Bone Season series.
Biography[]
Samantha Shannon was born in Hammersmith, West London and grew up in Ruislip. She started writing at the age of fifteen, when she wrote her first novel, Aurora, which remains unpublished.
Shannon attended Bishop Ramsey School and studied English Language and Literature at St Anne's College, Oxford. Shannon identifies as sapphic and currently lives in London. Her work has been translated into twenty-six languages.
The Bone Season[]
In 2012, Bloomsbury Publishing acquired The Bone Season during the London Book Fair in a preemptive bid by the publisher. She signed a six-figure book deal with Bloomsbury Publishing to publish the first three books in a seven-book series, beginning with The Bone Season. Film rights to The Bone Season were also optioned by Andy Serkis's film company, The Imaginarium Studios, in November 2012.
