Grub Street is located in part of I Cohort Section 5, or I-5, an area of London controlled by the mime-queen Ognena Maria.
Description[]
Grub Street has existed since the 1980's. "It's more of a district than a single street, a seam of sedition in the heart of I-5. Its architecture is an eccentric mix of eighteenth-century Georgian, mock-Tudor, and modern buildings. It's all crooked foundations, cobblestones, and leaning walls, interspersed with neon and steel and a single, modest transmission screen."[1] The shops sell anything a wordsmith could want: thick paper, moonbows of inkwells, old collectors' tomes, and bejeweled fountain pens. There are at least five or six coffeehouses and one cookshop. The smell of coffee drifts from most windows. Grub Street is home to the wealthy bohemian voyant underworld, mostly bibliomancers and psychographers. They live in mildewed garrets with only their muses, coffee, and books for company. Victorian parlor music floats from the open door of an antiques shop. Short alleys twist off on all sides of the main street, each leading to a small, enclosed courtyard. The single doss-house is the Bell Inn, where Nick Nygård rents a room. There's also a record shop and many places to hold séances. The voyants of Grub Street have always considered themselves to be a cut above syndicate politics. There are no cameras in Grub Street, a rarity in the citadel.
